Throughout life’s journey money is extremely important to buy our needs and wants, and one way to get it is through working and earning. However, we have a hard time getting a good and stable income, according to scriptures, one must be wise to discern his nature of work and must work diligently.

Let’s face it, in order to save and buy our needs and wants, we must boost our income, and here are some 6 simple ways the Holy Spirit wants you to do, to get that extra money.
1. Negotiate a Better Salary and Benefits
If you are committed to staying with your old tenure job, and you think you’ve contributed enough to the company you are working for then this opportunity is something you shall not pass by to increase your income.
Did you know that by doing this you are showing to your employer that you are prepared and you have the initiative to add more tasks, and are willing to learn and adapt? But you must also be prepared that you’ll be taking more responsibility and learning new information necessary to help you with that position you’re asking for.
But, this does not assure that you’ll get the raise you’re asking for. Always, have a backup plan.
2. Find a Better Job
This option is the last resort, if the current company you’re working with is not willing you to give that pay raise, then it’s for you to contemplate and find a better paying job since you are a tenured and experienced employee, some companies will value you more than the current company you’re working with.
Always have a backup plan, when you plan to leave your current company.
Do not be afraid of taking a leap of faith, finding a better job sounds like a challenge but trust the Holy Spirit, and you’ll know leaving’s the best decision you ever made.
3. Find a Second Job or side hustle
This is also known as, side hustle, it is a great opportunity for you to earn more and do something you like. It can also be part-time, and may not interfere with your full-time job, however, if it pays more than your old tenure job then opt to dramatically let go of your old job and focus on the side hustle.
A simple example of side hustles:
- Sell extra unnecessary items around your home via a garage sale or online selling.
- Vlogging and live streaming
- Tutoring
- Babysitting or dog sitting
- Delivery courier for online delivery services.
- Try being a driver in an online carpooling services app.
Having a side hustle is not for everyone, but if you are willing to try, there’s no harm and no foul, remember this… “There is no harm in trying, every redirection is the Holy Spirit’s maneuver in your life.”
4. Upgrade Your Skills
Not everyone has the luxury to go back to school, but as time is ever-changing online learning is a way to earn relevant life skills essential for you to elevate your income.
Here are some simple ideas:
- Do online courses (freelancing, trading, online marketing, and more self-paced programs…)
- Read Content or Videos from free resources related to skills you want to learn.
If you like to learn and are willing to put in the effort and step outside your comfort level, developing a new skill can ultimately make you more money.
5. Shift to an Industry with Better Prospects
What we meant by this is looking for an industry that is essential regardless of the economic situations a country is experiencing, fields like technology, science and healthcare, food, and beverage manufacturing, finance, and much more.
These industries are in demand regardless of the situation.
6. Start Your Own Business
Independence is key in life, not everyone wants to work a full 8 or 9 hours a day, some want independence, and one way to achieve that, as well as boost one’s income, is by building out your own business.
Key reminder before building a business:
- Consider your strengths
- Know the Market Trends (competition and market shares)
- Your Financial Capacity to start a business
