Sovereign and Sovereignty
Sovereign is a definitive word that means possessing ultimate or supreme power, sovereignty is an entity or authority that rules our lives, or a thing or a person that dominates our lives. Now, here’s a big question for all of you, what rules or dominates your life? Is it money, possessions, or to some it may be problems? Little do we know, that these instances and earthly things govern our life to the point that it consumes us.
1 Timothy 6:10 (ESV)
“For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs.”
Said in 1 Timothy 6:10, and yes it is true as the verse continued, did the scriptures say money is the root of all evil? No. It clearly says, For the love of money is the root of all evil. People nowadays are consumed and crave earning more to the point that we step on others toes and cross the line of being good towards others.
In Fact, earning more is great, so that you could provide more for your family, buy your needs and wants, help the community, and other causes, just as long as the condition of your heart is pure and genuine, there is nothing wrong with wanting more, just always remember the golden rule – do not do unto others, what you don’t want others to do unto you! Simple right?
Degree of Ambition: Up to what extent?
The root cause of greed and craving for money are problems, power, and strife, why? It’s because people are traumatized by experiencing hardships to the point that they want an easy life in general. But there’s a fine line between ambition and greed, ambition is pushing hard towards our dreams and goals, working through everything, learning new skills, adapting, giving, and resiliency. On the other hand, greed is characterized by doing quick and easy things and stepping on others. We don’t want to be greedy, we want to be ambitious, but keep in mind that we need guidance and care as we reach greater heights and that help and guidance is coming from the HOLY SPIRIT.
As we move forward the question will be, why do we give in to our problems and how can we turn things around? This is a moment for you, have a piece of quiet, and ask yourself, what will you do to not give in? Pray, seek, wait, and have faith.
