Cleansing is essential to the faith.
It is a way of purifying oneself, both physically and spiritually. The Holy Spirit is said to cleanse the soul, and physical cleansing is seen as aligning oneself with the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit is our divine cleanser. He washes away the stains of sin and restores us to the likeness of the Holy Spirit.
When we yield our lives to Him, He begins the process of sanctification-the gradual transformation of our hearts and minds to be more like Jesus. Part of this process is physical cleansing.
To be clean internally, we must first be clean externally.
This means taking care of our bodies and keeping them clean.
It also means eating healthy foods and getting regular exercise.
By taking care of our physical bodies, we are honoring the temple of the Holy Spirit and preparing ourselves to be used by Him in a greater way.
There is no one-size-fits-all approach to physical cleansing, but by following these basic guidelines, we can begin to experience the joy and freedom that comes from living in close fellowship with the Holy Spirit.
