What is the good deed that you have done today?
Your insurance to Heaven is…
Giving or to donate is something that we have within us, it is a part of our humanity, and our spirit. God and the Holy Spirit have been very kind to us and the scriptures tell us to give generously. The scriptures even demonstrated the generosity of the Israelites to help Moses in building the tabernacle, and if it weren’t for their help the tabernacle wouldn’t be built (Exodus 35), they exhibited this act without knowing that this is their insurance to heaven. In the scriptures, there are a lot of verses that encourage giving and other generosity acts to those who are in need but there is one specific verse that encompasses all, Proverbs 21:13 (NIV), “Whoever shuts his ears to the cry of the poor will also cry out and not be answered”.
Powerful isn’t it? Many of us turn a blind eye when someone calls to us, but when we are in need we call unto Him, and yet we expect to be heard but have we asked ourselves, did we do our part, have we helped others enough?
We all have tough times, and for some of us, we are going through phases of tough and difficult scenarios in life. There are a lot of unfortunate neighbors that we know who lost their homes due to financial problems, who are retrenched due to economic instability, and they began to reach out and even do alms. What shall we do when they knock on our doorstep?
We simply help them through prayers, advice, for some who are privileged they could offer in-kind and monetary donations, and to some, service. But do take note, my dear friends, God helps those who help themselves, it’s good that someone’s lending their hand in tough times but we should not get used to it. We must work hard for the things we desire.
We are all going through tough times, and we are just trying our best to make ends meet, but keep this in mind, my dear friend, tough times don’t last, tough people do. But one thing is for sure, whatever we reap, we will sow in God’s time, miracles and blessings happen in times that we need it the most and come unexpectedly. As said in the bible,
“The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully”, from 2 Corinthians 9:6 (ESV).
Help someone today, for it is your insurance to go to Heaven. Give a smile, a kind heart, a lending hand, donate, or a small financial contribution if you can. You will never know how your helping is changing someone’s life.
